My Artworks (Filipino culture)

This collection of handcrafted artworks celebrates the vibrant spirit, creativity, and traditions of Filipino culture through miniature displays and woven designs. From the lively streetside charm of "Te, Pabili Po", a miniature sari-sari store and grill stall, to the timeless craftsmanship of Inabel-inspired woven bags — both in functional market totes and stylish mini sling bags — each piece honors the everyday stories that shape our communities.

This eye-catching, handwoven paper bag takes inspiration from traditional Inabel textiles — known for their bold patterns and rich cultural roots in the Ilocos region of the Philippines. Using vibrant blue and lavender paper strips, this large bag mimics the durability and utility of classic Filipino market totes, often seen in wet markets and community gatherings. The piece highlights both function and artistry, reflecting how everyday Filipino items are designed with both practicality and aesthetic appeal in mind. It’s a tribute to the enduring value of handcraft in local life and heritage.

Inabel-Inspired Mini Handwoven Shoulder Bag

This delicate mini shoulder bag reimagines traditional Filipino weaving into a modern, wearable piece. Crafted with golden and yellow paper strips in a classic woven pattern, it features soft ribbon straps designed to be worn over the shoulder or across the body. Inspired by Inabel textile motifs, this sling-style bag blends heritage craftsmanship with contemporary style. Compact yet eye-catching, it’s perfect for carrying small essentials — a playful piece that celebrates the Filipino spirit of creativity and reinvention through everyday fashion.

The Revised Maman

The Revised Maman sculpture represents the strength and care of motherhood. Its strong legs show protection, while the glowing egg sac symbolizes life and warmth. By adding light to a spider—a creature often feared—the artwork transforms it into a symbol of love, hope, and beauty even in darkness.

Miniature Sari-Sari Store Display (Te, Pabili Po)

This handcrafted miniature scene captures the heart of a classic Filipino streetfood setup, a beloved fixture in local communities. It represents how many Filipino entrepreneurs start small — with humble stalls, bright signage, and a lively display of grilled favorites like hotdogs and barbecue, alongside local drinks. Carefully made from everyday materials like cardboard, paper, and printed ads, this piece pays tribute to the vibrant street food culture and the spirit of resourcefulness and community in the Philippines.

“Tulay ng Kultura” (Bridge of Cultures)

This artwork captures the complex but beautiful identity of Filipinos living in Qatar. As part of the diaspora, we carry our heritage, values, and traditions while growing up or working in a different cultural environment. I used vibrant and symbolic visuals to show how contemporary Philippine art can express our experiences—our struggles, pride, and dual identity as both Filipino and part of the Qatari society. The merging of traditional and modern, Filipino and Arab elements in my work reflects how we live in between cultures, honoring both without losing ourselves.
